Cooperbolts
Q Can Cooperbolts be fitted to wooden and metal doors?
A Yes. They fit to most doors. They are surface fitted to the door on a solid steel backplate.
Q What keep is provided for the bolt shoot?
A Outward opening bolts include a flat keep to fit into the door frame. Inward opening doors are supplied with a surface fit box keep.
Q Can Cooperbolts be fitted to double doors?
A Yes. There are 2 options:
(1) One opening leaf: Fix one leaf using top and bottom bolts; surface fit a box keep* to the fixed leaf and a Cooperbolt to the openable leaf. (*Order box keep separately) or
(2) Both leaves opening: Fit our Double Door Retainer (Model 118) to one leaf and a Cooperbolt door bolt to the other leaf. By pushing the green pushpad on the Cooperbolt the bolt shoot withdraws and allows both leaves to open simultaneously.
Q How many keys are supplied with each unit?
A Two keys per lock and two keys per switch.
Q Can I be supplied with the same key numbers if I order more than one unit?
A Yes. We normally supply the same key number if more than one unit is ordered. We also keep your key number on file for future reference.
Q How long does the battery last on the alarm models?
A The PP3 battery will last 12 months on normal usage. We would recommend changing the battery every 12 months.
Q Is there a relevant British Standard for the Cooperbolts?
A No. Unlike conventional panic latches (covered by BSEN179) the Cooperbolt door bolt is designed as a security bolt which allows access in an emergency. The bolt releases the door in a single hand operation. The bolt shoot is relocked by use of a key.
